If Retired, what do you do to keep busy?

I teach Career Exploration classes part-time on campus at BYU-Idaho, volunteer tutor adult Ukrainian refugees online English as a Second Language, substitute teach back at the high school where I was the principal, serve a part-time volunteer at-home mission for the LDS Church (Idaho Falls LDS Mission) developing social media content for Facebook and YouTube channels, enjoy visiting kids/grandkids and play competitive Pickleball. (best part of all).

What have you been up to since you graduated?

I attended Ricks College, served an LDS Mission to France, married in 1978, graduated from BYU 1980 taught and coached at the high school level for 10 years in Washington and Oregon then was in educational administration for 29 years in Washington and Idaho.

I taught as Education adjunct faculty for City University and Idaho State University and served as a National Effective Schools licensed auditor.

Started an LLC called Overcoming Adversity that contracts with inspirational life/resilience coaches and schedules them into high school/middle school level assemblies.
School Story

During 4 years of track practices, trying to hide out in the pole vault pit to escape a few required long, grueling sprints but always being discovered anyway. (no escape).

Also remember at the end of the Senior Year skipping Study Hall to run to Chris's Bakery and guess who showed up?! Parker and Vanderstoop Principal and VP, who were surprised to see us "good" students there and said "if you get back to school before we do then we won't discipline you". We booked it!

Happy Bday Helen! It was good to see you at the reunion. You're still so friendly, positive, fun and have the same great smile. I bet you were such an awesome Sped. teacher. Enjoy retirement and let me know if you ever get near eastern Idaho.

Terri and Gary. It was fun to read about our careers, kids, hobbies and where/why you moved to Meridian. We've lived just north of Idaho Falls for 28 years but I was in education for 39 years. We pass through the Boise area once in awhile. Will you be able to attend the '74 Class Reunion Aug 28/29 in Oak Harbor? Take Care You Two!

Judy. I can easily remember that special smile that was on your face 95% of the time which, in my opinion, reflected the amazing heart and caring spirit that you also demonstrated. I remember you as kind, patient, non-judgmental, fun, positive, hard-working and as a great example of a believer. I can just imagine you, now, as the ultimate grandma!

Crystal. To be honest I thought you and your sister Julie were two of the nicest girls in all of OHHS. I bet you’re both still very nice. The persons were you deep down inside usually don’t change a whole lot.

49 years has taught me that strength doesn't so much come from what you CAN do but rather from overcoming things you thought you COULDN'T do. 1974 was an amazing class!
