Carrie Louise Starr Baughman
Carrie Louise Starr was born on May 9, 1956 to Edgar Lee Starr Jr. and Betty Jane (Holcomb) Starr. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia where her father was attending Emory University Seminary. They moved back to Jackson, Mississippi after seminary where Louise began Elementary School, but before long the family moved to Winlock, Washington. The family moved often following her father’s ministry, and they lived in Elma, Spokane, and Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. Louise attended high school in Oak Harbor, Washington, and graduated with the class of 1974.
Louise got her Bachelor of Communications degree at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. She went to graduate school in Morgantown, WV. She met her husband, Gordon Baughman while living in West Virginia. They married in Galveston, Texas on November 27, 1982.
They welcomed Katy Baughman in October 1986 in Houston, Texas. They moved to Georgia, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania, and back to Washington following Gordon’s career as an Executive Chef for the Marriott Hotel. In November of 1994, Maggie Baughman was born. Louise worked at Therapeutic Health Services in Seattle, Washington. She worked there for over 25 years and held many different roles, but one of her greatest accomplishments was helping to design and structure the company’s computer software when all medical offices went to paperless records. She spearheaded the company’s transition, and educated the staff on how to use the software.
Louise was diagnosed with dementia in 2015, and it progressed into Lewy Body Dementia. She lost the battle and passed away peacefully on May 4, 2020 at 63 years old.
Donations can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association in honor of Louise.
